Global MND Awareness Day

Each year on 21 June the MND Association joins with the wider MND community around the world to mark Global MND Awareness Day – a day to honour everyone affected by motor neurone disease.

Global MND Awareness Day began in 1997, led by the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations. The date - June 21, the summer solstice - symbolises light, strength, and the resilience of the global MND community. Over time, this day has grown into a powerful platform, bringing together voices from all corners of the world.

Special Days Matter

For people with MND every day matters.

An ice cream on the beach.

A day in the park.

Milestones like birthdays, anniversaries and weddings and celebrations with family and friends – all precious moments which deserve to be celebrated.

But what about the other moments which matter with MND?

The day you heard your voice again and were able to say ‘I love you’

The day you were given back your independence with a new stairlift or wheelchair.

The day a support grant opened up the world again and gave you the confidence to try something new.

Too often days like these pass unnoticed – so we’re changing that.

This Global MND Awareness Day we’ll be celebrating the days which matter most and encouraging the MND community to do the same.

We'll be sharing stories of special days from the MND community on our social media channels and we'd love to hear yours.

Join the conversation and copy us in @MNDAssoc before, during and after Global MND Awareness Day Sunday 21 June.

Because with MND, every day matters.
