MND Connect is changing, to allow the MND Association’s helpline to provide better support to more people affected by motor neurone disease.
From Monday 4 March, the phone lines will be open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. Calls will be answered by an automated system which will help quickly direct calls to a person who has the specialist knowledge they need.
The changes are being introduced following a thorough review of all aspects of the service, which was launched by a group of volunteers in 1997. The first staff were recruited in 2002. Since then, there has been little change to the way the service operates.
The new hours and call answering service will ensure the Association’s teams are able to answer more calls and provide the very best service to everyone who needs the support, including people who are newly diagnosed with MND. Emails will continue to be answered daily.
The changes are being introduced on a six-month trial basis with results being monitored regularly to ensure they are delivering the improvements we expect them to.
