Welcome to the Black Country Group 

The Black Country Group of the Motor Neurone Disease Association supports those living with MND, their families and carers across the Black Country boroughs of Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley and Wolverhampton. 

We are a volunteer led group who provide a warm welcome and friendship to offer information, advice and support. We also campaign for improved local services for people with MND and fundraise for essential money to provide local support and to fund research into finding treatments and a cure for MND.

After receiving an ALS diagnosis in October 2021, I became a member of the Black Country Group Planning Committee. I am actively engaged in our meetings, gaining insight into expenditure and resource allocation while proposing fundraising and awareness initiatives. We warmly welcome new participants to join us and contribute their perspectives to our endeavours. Come and be part of shaping our collective efforts - Ama Johal 

 

The MND Association’s monthly support meetings are held every month at the Mary Stevens Hospice near Stourbridge from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. We are pleased to announce further meetings beginning in June and July to be held at Bloxwich Golf Club, Bloxwich, Walsall also from 2.00pm to 4.00pm for those on the northern side of the Black Country.

We warmly welcome all people living with MND, their carers and families to join us at these meetings. They are very informal and enable you to meet others living with MND in a relaxed and friendly setting and to share experiences over a cup of tea or coffee.

 Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been living with MND for some time, and whether you decide to pop along for 10 minutes or stay and chat for the whole two hours, you will be very welcome

Los Nerdos - One Final Gig

On 04th May last the boys from Los Nerdos performed one final gig in aid of the Black Country Group to a full house in Leicester. Nick Goodwin from the band explains

We sold over 2020 tickets raising over £4400 in ticket sales alone. That takes the total of the 2 gigs we have done up to nearly £15,000, with another £600 to be added shortly. We also have a charity prize draw through May, where people will donate on just giving and be given tickets to win some amazing prizes. We have a month's gym membership, a butchers box, a haircut and style, plus Ray Ban sunglasses to name a few prizes. 
 
We will be continuing to raise funds until we hit at least £20k!
