Members of the Motor Neurone Disease Association were treated to an exclusive virtual Q&A session with Association patron Kevin Sinfield OBE on bank holiday Monday.
Fellow patron and TV presenter Charlotte Hawkins hosted the event, which marked the launch of Kevin’s new autobiography, The Extra Mile.
The pair discussed Kevin’s friendship with former team mate Rob Burrow MBE, who is living with motor neurone disease (MND), and Kevin’s epic fundraising challenges to raise funds to support the MND community.
During the hour-long event, Kevin thanked all those who support the MND Association and answered the community’s burning question - including his thought process when running long distances, an insight into his friendship with Rob and their playing day antics, and his thoughts on the current Coronation Street storyline which features MND.
The first 100 people who signed up for the session secured a free The Extra Mile audiobook, kindly donated by Penguin Books.
Since Rob’s diagnosis in 2019, Kevin has raised more than £7.5million for MND charities, with new research and new support projects for families with MND now underway thanks to funds Kevin chose to channel to the MND Association.
Charlotte Hawkins became a patron of the MND Association after her father, Frank, died from MND in 2015.
