Attendees of this year's MND EnCouRage event will have the chance to hear from Dr Yiran Wang, one of our newly appointed MND Association non-clinical fellowship holders under the Lady Edith Wolfson programme.
Based at University College London and The Francis Crick Institute, Dr Wang will be talking about his fellowship project which seeks to understand more about how specific biological mechanisms might contribute to the development and progression of MND. A greater understanding of this aspect of the disease could lead to the discovery of new targets for the development of more potential therapies for MND.
Now in its third year, the Association’s MND EnCouRage event is aimed at developing the skills of early career researchers (ECRs), and offering the opportunity for people with MND to meet the MND researchers of tomorrow. Dr Wang’s talk will be part of the event's traditional ‘Lightning Talks’ section which gives ECRs a chance to share their research and their passion for the projects they have undertaken in ‘bite size’ pieces suitable for any audience. It offers a taste of the huge diversity of MND research currently being carried out.
The event will take place at the Staverton Park Hotel, Daventry, Northamptonshire. This intentionally informal event gives the MND Community a great opportunity to meet the ECRs and, together with talks and discussion about clinical trials, genetic research and more, there will be a chance to ask research questions to our panel of MND researchers and clinicians.
People with MND are invited to join us from lunchtime on the 10 July.
Registration is now open for a limited number of places and, if demand is greater than the places available, names will be entered into a ballot and drawn at random.
