Presenter and journalist Charlotte Hawkins has shared her thanks to everyone who donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association’s BBC Lifeline Appeal, which raised £31,356.
Charlotte, who became a patron of the Association following her father’s diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND), fronted the television appeal which aired on BBC1 and BBC2 last October.
The appeal highlighted the experiences of James, Maggie and Eoin, who described the invaluable support they and their families received from the charity since being diagnosed with MND.
Viewers also heard from Association-funded researcher Professor Ammar Al-Chalabi, who explained the exciting discoveries made in MND research in recent years and how important it is for researchers to build on this work.
“We are so grateful to everyone who kindly made a donation and who helped share the appeal far and wide to raise more awareness of motor neurone disease. A massive thank you.”
