16 November 2022 Fundraising
After raising £100,000 for the MND Association, horse Burrow Seven is retiring from professional racing due to a repetitive injury.
The horse, named after Association patron Rob Burrow MBE, will begin a new life as an equine welfare and therapy horse.
The Burrow Seven Racing Club was launched in November 2020 as an innovative fundraising concept to raise money in response to Rob Burrow’s MND diagnosis. In his career Burrow Seven raced four times, with a second in January 2022 being his highest placing.
To continue the fundraising in Rob’s name, The Good Racing Company has already acquired a replacement horse to continue to support the fight against MND. The Burrow family are yet to meet this new horse, but they have already named him Beep Beep Burrow in honour of Rob’s Road Runner-inspired nickname at Leeds Rhinos Rugby Club.
All Burrow Seven Racing Club members will immediately have their memberships transferred to the new horse and it is expected Beep Beep Burrow will have his first race in November 2022.
“My family and I were really saddened to hear the news of Burrow Seven’s injury, but the main thing is that he’ll continue to have a long and fulfilling life. We all have a close bond with Burrow Seven and we’ll continue to still visit him. We’re all looking forward to meeting Beep Beep Burrow soon. Let’s hope he lives up to his name!”

All money raised by Beep Beep Burrow will be split between the MND Association to support vital research and Leeds Hospitals Charity’s Appeal to build the Rob Burrow Centre for MND.
