WITH just under a week to go until the big day you could help give people living with motor neurone disease (MND) the greatest gift of all by supporting the MND Association’s Christmas Appeal.
As thoughts turn to spending time with family and friends, the MND Association is hoping to raise money which could support our voice banking service, giving someone living with MND now the chance to say ‘I love you’ in the future.
Eoin, who was diagnosed with MND in 2020 aged just 38, is supporting this year’s appeal. With support from the MND Association, wife Jenny and children, Liam and Roisin, he has been able to record his voice using specialist software, retaining his beautiful Irish accent and an important sense of self.
He explained:
“The shock of my MND diagnosis was devastating, but my practical side soon took over and I decided to bank my voice – a fantastic service funded by the MND Association.
“I couldn’t bear the thought that one day I wouldn’t be able to communicate with my family – and it was really important to us all that my Irish accent was captured. It’s distinctive to me, and I want my family to be able to hear my voice, filled with love for them, for many years to come.”
While MND takes away so much, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Eoin and his family will be able to share many more special moments together this Christmas.
