Original works by award-winning photographers Luke Stephenson and Nigel Shafran are being auctioned off as part of an online sale to help raise money for the MND Association.
Bids are being invited on two limited edition prints – Cordon Bleu Finch and 1996 – which are being auctioned off as part of MND300, an online sale which has been curated by fashion photographer and director, Mark Sanders.
Inspired by the statistic 1 in 300, which illustrates an individual’s lifetime risk of developing MND, MND300 has been organised by Mark in memory of his mum Lin, who died from MND earlier this year.
All proceeds from the sale, which was launched at an event in London last week, are being donated to the MND Association, which is the biggest charity funder of research into motor neurone disease in the UK.
Mark said he had been overwhelmed by the support he has received so far, with more than 200 prints being sold in the first few days. The online sale, which features photographs from Rankin and Steve Curry, runs until November 10.
The launch event last week was incredible. After planning this for so long it was almost surreal to see it come to life and the response so far has been extraordinary. Someone from Australia got in touch to say they had two friends who had recently been diagnosed with MND and they had decided to buy four prints. Some of the photographers who have donated prints have also been affected by MND in some way.
“I’ve witnessed how cruel MND can be and I’m determined to do everything I can to help. My only hope is that a treatment for MND might be on the horizon but there needs to be much more funding to allow that to happen. Every penny raised through this sale will help to make a difference.”
