Last night’s National Television Awards once again highlighted the brutal nature of motor neurone disease (MND) with the shortlisting of BBC documentary Rob Burrow: Living with MND.
MND Association patron Rob Burrow MBE, his wife Lindsey and children Macy and Maya travelled to London’s O2 arena and experienced the awards live in the audience alongside some of the biggest names in television.
BBC Two commissioned the documentary from BBC Breakfast which, since Rob’s diagnosis in 2019, has been following the Rugby League legend and his family.
The fierce competition in the Authored Documentary category saw Lewis Capaldi take home the award.
There was a huge outpouring of support across social media for Rob and his family leading up to the announcement and although the documentary didn’t emerge victorious, the awareness raised of MND and the work of the Association is award-winning to the MND community and beyond.
This is the second time Rob has put MND in the spotlight at the NTAs. In 2021, Rob’s first documentary, Rob Burrow: My Year with MND, was shortlisted in the Authored Documentary category.
If you’ve been inspired by Rob’s story and would like to support him and others living with MND you can make a donation.
