Interviews of Speech and Language Therapists to better understand their perspectives and challenges of delivering voice and message services to people living with MND during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
This study aims to explore the perspectives of Speech and Language Therapists on voice and message service delivery to people living with MND and to understand the challenges when providing this service during and after the COVID-19 pandemic period.
The researcher is looking to explore the different care approaches of Speech and Language Therapists during this time, and to gain support for policies, and operating procedures to enhance voice and message banking services during pandemics or crisis situations.
By exploring this under-researched area, this research could enhance clinical practice by identifying useful information that can be given to people living with MND, Speech and Language Therapists, family members and other health and social care professionals involved in the care of people living with MND about what to expect from therapy throughout the MND trajectory; from first being diagnosed to the aftercare period. These insights could also be used as a first step to developing larger interventions within health and social care services, and could support decision making for policy development, and care planning for people living with MND.
