Why is it important for members to attend the AGM?

As a membership organisation the Board of Trustees would like you to have your say. You can do this by voting for a new trustee and partaking in the AGM to help shape the future of the Association.

This year the AGM will include presentations from our new Chair, Dr Usman Khan, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Tanya Curry, the Association's Chief Executive. Despite the change in plans, we are dedicated to bringing you informative and engaging updates that highlight our achievements over the last year. You will be able to ask the Board questions on the work of the Association.

The essential business of the AGM is to vote on this year's resolutions and to announce the result of the trustee election.

Special resolutions

This year we are asking members to vote on special resolutions to amend our Articles of Association, specifically to change the term limits and term lengths of trustees and the Chair of the Board. We believe that by making these changes we are bringing the Association into line with good governance and best practice. By making the amends to the Articles now, the governance of the charity is being supported to ensure resilience and robustness in the future.

To help members understand more about the special resolutions we have produced a FAQ document here.

The draft Articles of Association can be read here.

Appointing a proxy

If the meeting is not convenient for you, or you are not able to join on the day, then you can vote on the resolutions by appointing a proxy, either online or by post. You may appoint the Chair of the Meeting or anyone else as your proxy, and your proxy does not have to be a member of the MND Association.

Details of how members can appoint a proxy have been included in the ballot paper.
